Wetting hair before application of these products can cause dilution of the treatment and is generally not advised. Lice are also capable of holding their breath under water, making it difficult for the solution to penetrate the lice. Make sure to read all package instructions before using any lice removal product.

When all instructions for the lice removal process have been completed, you will be lice-free after the final application.

Most lice will die during the ten-minute dosing period, or shortly afterwards. Note that lice are highly sensitive to light and that live lice will move quickly. If you observe any live lice moving around after the treatment, these lice are likely affected and will die quickly and should be combed out of the hair later.

any unusual colors to appear in the hair. It is advisable that you consult
your colorist or beautician before using these products on your hair.

Lice treatment products should not be used on infants and babies less than 2 years of age without consulting your doctor. Check infants for nits, eggs, and/or lice in the hair, but if they are not present, there is no need to treat the infant.

Itching and scratching are telltale signs of infestation. If you notice your child continuously scratching their head, especially the back of the neck and behind the ears, it may be a sign of lice.

It's a good idea to carefully inspect your child's
hair and make it part of their normal shampooing routine. Under a bright natural
light, part the child's hair into sections and search for signs of lice and
nits. Nits are the most difficult to find due to their extremely small size,
and gray color. They are usually found on the hair shaft by the scalp and are
not easily removed. Lice are translucent to a grayish-brown color and are about
the size of a sesame seed, slightly larger than nits. Lice are sensitive to
light and will move to avoid the light when you're inspecting, so make sure
you pay attention. If you find that one member of your family has head lice
it is important to inspect the hair of all other family members as well.

Effective lice killing starts with a maximum strength shampoo treatment that kills lice and eggs. First, cover the child's face with a washcloth or towel. Then apply a shampoo treatment to dry hair, and make sure that you thoroughly cover the entire scalp. It's recommended to wear gloves while applying so that nits do not attach themselves to your fingernails and become a source of reinfestation. Reapplication and egg removal are required to ensure complete effectiveness. See labels for important information.

Killing lice is only solving half the problem - you must also remove the eggs that produce lice, which are called nits. If you don't remove the nits completely, lice will come back, possibly in larger numbers than before. Nits are attached to the hair with a glue-like substance and shampooing alone will not remove them. That's why eggs/nits must be completely combed out of the hair after using a lice killing shampoo. Egg removal products are designed to help make combing of the eggs faster and easier. For easier combing, part the hair in sections about 2 inches wide by about � inch, and then clip the hair back.

When a child brings lice into the house, you must take steps to avoid the lice infesting the rest of the house. To do this, either throw away the combs and brushes you've used on the child's head, or soak them in hot water and lice shampoo, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Any clothing or bedding your child was in contact with should be washed in hot water and put in the dryer for 20 minutes. Thoroughly vacuum rugs, couches, and even the family car. You should also use a lice killing household spray on couches, mattresses or garments that cannot be laundered or dry-cleaned. Also place any toys in a tightly sealed plastic bag for a week.
